Description
This charming and authentically aged brass utility lantern is a fine example of early French craftsmanship, produced by A.F.G. (Antoine Frédéric Gaudard) — one of France’s notable lantern manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The lantern features a domed ventilated cap, a side-hinged door with original glass pane (showing a crack consistent with age), and a removable oil/kerosene wick burner reservoir stamped with the A.F.G. mark. The entire body is constructed of brass, giving it durability and resistance to corrosion — ideal for the rough conditions it was built for. Likely used in railway, industrial, or carriage transport settings.
